What is ClickUp? A brief overview Notion vs ClickUp 2023

ClickUp is a cloud-based project management software that, like all other platforms, provides companies and groups of different sizes a space to work productively with optimized task-handling, goal-tracking, and reporting tools, as well as an open opportunity to foster growth as a collective to great heights.

The best productivity platforms of today have distinct factors that set each other apart, and ClickUp takes on it by cashing in on being a one-stop shop for all work-related needs. It has a huge load of features, most of which are designed to be convenient and easy to use. Additionally, it’s best known for its jam-packed free plan and impressively valuable premium contemporaries.

ClickUp is a popular and highly regarded product. However, while being filled to the brim with productivity features, the amount it offers can be overkill for some users.

What makes ClickUp stand out from the rest?

There’s no denying that ClickUp delivers when it comes to offering teams a wide variety of project management features. ClickUp offers everything you need, including core tools like task creation, calendar, report, and communication. ClickUp also has handy functions such as time and screen recording and real-time collaborations.

What’s particularly nice about the large capacity of tools is that you can access them in one place instead of relying on multiple apps. It’s also worth noting that you don’t need to pay a lot to get a hold of most of the core ones as they’re already available in its Free Forever plan – that’s what ClickUp exactly promised since its inception in 2017. According to some studies, having all of the required work tools in one place can increase team productivity by up to 20%.

ClickUp’s Shortcomings

However, while having as many features in one single platform as possible is a sound idea, it does have a downside. We all know that dealing with a lot of stuff at once may leave us feeling fatigued at some point. ClickUp has many users complaining about the fact that they have to spend more time learning. Most teams will need to learn the tools before they can use them for their full-time work.

Although not as serious as the other, ClickUp needs to improve its UI. It can sometimes be a little difficult to navigate and may become unresponsive in some cases. It is capable of customizing itself and provides excellent support and learning resources when needed.

ClickUp’s Pros

  • This includes a wide range of solutions for work, from task management to time tracking to goal setting.
  • Its free plan is the best in project management software
  • Let’s explore more customization options

ClickUp’s Cons

  • It has so many features in one platform that it may intimidate those entering it for the first time.
  • Overload of tools means more time for onboarding

ClickUp vs. Asana

Similar to ClickUp, Asana is a cloud-based program that allows you to keep up with your team’s tasks at any time on any device – did you know you can access both platforms through the iOS and Android mobile apps?

Asana comes with the core features you may expect, such as unlimited storage, reporting, goal tracking, and communication. ClickUp aims to be features-heavy, and Asana counters it by striking a perfect balance between offering powerful work tools and simplifying task management duties.

Asana does not have as many tools as ClickUp, which may be good news for some. However, as high-quality as its lineup of features may seem, its estimated price range is twice as much as the other.

Comparing the Features

Both Asana and ClickUp offer teams a handy slew of core workspace features and tools, plus some additions, including portfolio access and customization. While the latter has life-saving tools like integrated time-tracking management, the former does not – this means you would have to find a dedicated program just for that.

Asana’s offered set of paid plans costs twice the amount of what ClickUp currently has. For reference, the ClickUp Unlimited plan is priced at just $5; meanwhile, Asana’s equivalent is at a whopping $10.99. Asana’s free plans do not offer the same features as ClickUp and can only be accessed by those who have opted for premium tiers. The only thing that saves Asana’s entry-level tier is unlimited storage. This gives ClickUp the obvious upper hand in the category.

Asana’s Unique Aspects

Asana may not be best recognized for its financial value. It may also need to be well-versed when it comes to its offering of project management tools and functions, too. Asana may have had a greater advantage than ClickUp by not having much to offer.

Although the latter has a lot of features, it may not be enough for all teams, especially those who are going through the onboarding process. The former saves time and makes teammates less concerned.

With that considered, it’s more liberating to integrate and incorporate as much as you want to enhance your team’s work experience with Asana. Like every other project management platform, Asana lets you integrate with various apps and services, including Zapier, for an expanded reach.

Asana’s Pros

  • Has enough vital task management features to make for a swift working environment
  • The platform’s interface and functions are simple, making it easy for new users to use.
  • Has an impressive list of advanced integrations with third-party apps and services

Asana’s Cons

  • Most of Asana’s key features require access to any of its paid-tier offerings.
  • The high price tag may not be a good fit for small teams or low-budget groups.

ClickUp vs. Monday.com

On our list of project management platforms, Monday.com is a rare case in which it offers (almost) the exact range of capabilities as ClickUp. Much like the latter, the former lets you do all kinds of task management duties of the highest quality possible.

With Monday, you can create any kind of task and file them into folders and subtasks, collaborate with your fellow mates in real-time even while you’re far away, draft reports using its excellent cloud-based framework, customize your dashboard with drag-and-drop options, and track goals at any moment whether you’re in desktop view or on mobile.

Essentially, Monday allows you to do exactly what ClickUp promises to offer – the only notable differences are that the interface is sleeker than the other, it’s easier to navigate, and it’s more appropriate in a large-group setting.

Comparing the Features

Monday offers its users the following key work management tools that ClickUp also has: apart from primary functions like task-making, reporting, and automations, these also include the Gantt and Kanban charts, the in-house Documents feature, time-tracking tools, single sign-on, and the ability to privatize boards and files. While you can get half of these already in ClickUp’s freemium plan, with Monday, you’d have to pay up just to access them, which can be a bit of a hassle.

Regarding the pricing range, Monday’s version falls comfortably between ClickUp’s more valuable set and Asana’s more expensive one. The Basic plan costs $8, which is $3 less than ClickUp’s equivalent but not as expensive. Though admittedly, there’s not much to offer, Monday’s free plan wins when it comes to storage allowance. You’ll spot the difference immediately if you compare its 500MB to ClickUp’s 100MB. Notion vs ClickUp 2023

Monday’s Unique Aspects

Monday might be able to offer a greater number of features than ClickUp, but that is only because ClickUp requires access beyond the paywall. We do appreciate the polished UI. Much like Asana, Monday’s interface has been designed to be easy to navigate, even upon onboarding.

Monday stands out best in its simplicity based on how it lays out its features. It can be integrated with third-party platforms so that companies with additional needs or solutions have a place to make the most of the software.

Aside from the fact that Monday’s pricing plans and the included tools are affordable, it could be a great project management tool for large to mid-sized groups. ClickUp is best for small groups so Monday should be the ClickUp for larger ones.

Monday’s Pros

  • Offers a wide range of great-value plans that are suitable for large and mid-sized teams.
  • It has enough features and work view options to give you a competitive edge
  • Its interface is simple enough for anyone, including newly welcomed teammates.

Monday’s Cons

  • Its free plan has some limits features-wise, despite offering users more free storage space allowance.
  • It lacks multi-device support, as it can’t be currently connected to voice control platforms like Alexa and Google Assistant.

Notion vs ClickUp 2023

> > Click Here to Sign Up for Free < <

ClickUp vs. Notion

Notion was originally a note-taking app. Now it offers a refreshing approach for task management. Instead of relying on the usual design-heavy interface filled to the brim with tools, as seen in some top platforms such as ClickUp, Notion lays out its offering of features in a more simplified, minimalistic manner.

With Notion, you get to use a set of barebones work features, such as creating an organized list of to-do tasks, viewing the happenings in your workspace in different ways (from Kanban boards to calendar and timeline views), and crafting info-rich documents and wikis.

You won’t be able use other useful tools like the Gantt chart because Notion doesn’t have enough capacity. It does have a limited number of powerful solutions but it makes up for it with a simpler working environment.

Comparison of the Features

Notion doesn’t have the same number of functions as ClickUp, as we’ve already seen. As for the general design, the former appears to be less bold and brash than the latter (unless you try out any of its pre-made templates available on its official website). It makes sense, however, given the way it was presented originally.

Beyond how much it can offer, Notion’s simplistic nature similarly influences its free tier and paid plans. Its free plan, on the one hand, allows you to taste its core tools – what makes it different is that it’s more suited for personal use compared to ClickUp’s Free Forever plan. Notion’s Teams plan seems to be more suitable for groups that don’t require the additional features. Notion vs ClickUp 2023

Notion’s Unique Aspects

It is the only software that can cater to freelancers and small teams better than large companies with lots at stake. Considering the short list of features, it can offer right away. The notion has the advantage of being easier to explore and use.

Given its minimalist look, organizing tasks and other duties has always been difficult. Whether you work alone or with a team, you may appreciate how you can cut straight to the chase and do whatever task is on your mind.

Not only is Notion easy to navigate, but its layout is simple enough that it can be maximized however you want. Although it may not be as efficient as automation, that won’t make it a problem if you are a task manager.

Notion’s Pros

  • Excels in its task-creating, note-taking, and organization features, especially considering its origin as a simple notes application
  • Its minimalistic interface leads to a less complex setup process
  • Encourages users to be more functional and fluid in their workflow – this is enough to suit both one-person freelancers and teams with multiple players

Notion’s Cons

  • It needs other vital project management tools, such as automation and advanced-level reporting.
  • You may need to rely on third-party integrations if you want to use Notion and maximize it with other features it currently cannot offer

ClickUp vs. Trello

Trello is breaking with tradition and aiming to be the most popular project management platform. It offers a variety of options for teams to organize and see project tasks. Some notable features include Kanban-style boards and Trello cards. There are also eye-catching views that range from lists to tables. Notion vs ClickUp 2023

ClickUp has been made a credible competitor by Trello’s task-laying capabilities. Furthermore, it excels in its distinctive way when it comes to automations and integrations, and its free plan seems to be on par with what ClickUp’s Free Forever variant has in store.

Trello’s visual layouts are what make it stand out, but we cannot say the same about other aspects of project management like reporting. However, the limited number of tools available makes it easier to onboard.

Comparison of the Features

Like ClickUp’s take, Trello does not fail to impress us with its storied range of visual task layouts, as each allows you to keep organized and in tune with your team’s primary goals. However, while you can create a Kanban board for free, you may need to pay for a $10 Premium plan to access many options. Regardless, its task management and automation features seem good enough to use by any team.

It is also worth noting that ClickUp’s integration capabilities are seamless. Trello’s free plan limits may limit your options, but you might be able to use its native and power-up offerings to give you more flexibility in your workflow. Also, Trello’s entry level tier grants unlimited storage which ClickUp is currently unable to offer. This is a great bonus!

Trello’s Unique Aspects

Trello is not as flexible as ClickUp. You can’t record work hours with a timer, track and report on how well your project has been, or send e-mails within the platform – all because Trello doesn’t offer any of these currently.

It is not suited for data-intensive projects that require a lot of flexibility. But will that matter if all you want is a place where you can organize your tasks for your team? If you don’t want to use Trello’s integration features, the default version might not suffice to meet your workspace requirements.

Trello’s task-management functions are a great way to organize your tasks. Apart from the assorted range of visuals, the Trello Cards feature lets you collate all your tasks into sub-ecosystems full of workplace interactions. Notion vs ClickUp 2023

Trello’s Pros

  • A wide range of work view designs that are board-based, optimized for various purposes.
  • Has fewer features, ultimately making the onboarding and setup process less cumbersome
  • Its free plan gives users unlimited storage space, which is good news for those who handle extra data.

Trello’s Cons

  • Trello must improve its ability to create visuals and boards, as well as other critical tools such reporting and time management.
  • You’ll only be limited to Kanban boards unless you sign up for its mid-tier Premium plan.

ClickUp vs. Jira Software

Advertised as the #1 project management software for agile teams, Jira Software is packed with a stellar list of advanced-grade and highly functional features. These features are targeted at teams that specialize in IT or other high-skill areas, so if this is something you’re interested in, it may be worth your time.

Like ClickUp, Jira is quite robust and flexible to use based on its current offering of interesting tools – the only difference being it’s more suited for coding pros and the like. Its core functions aside, many have praised it for its excellent reporting, dev-ops and bug-tracking capabilities.

It is also highly praised for its impressive list of native integrations. These are all great features, but Jira is also criticized for its slow UI, confusing setup and inability assign multiple people to the same task.

Comparison of the Features

ClickUp and Jira share some commonalities, such as scrums and automations, project reporting, power-heavy task managing capabilities, and project reporting. The key distinction is the focus on dev teams, which may explain why some of Jira’s features are hard to digest if you’re not tech-savvy. Notion vs ClickUp 2023

Another aspect both platforms share is the intimidation upon first impression – ClickUp may be notorious for its feature overload. Still, Jira’s range is so advanced that others may struggle with it. As for Jira’s free and paid plans, you may likely reap the benefits of what each tier offers, especially if you work in IT. However, if you wish to get expert-level access to stuff like SSO and SCIM, you must also consider getting an Atlassian Access subscription, which will add more to your expenses.

Jira’s Unique Aspects

Jira is a powerful project management platform that can be as simple or complex as you might think. Its many functions and tools make it a good choice for agile teams, especially when you consider the inclusion of unique assets such as DevOps or IT companies.

Jira may not be capable of offering every feature under the sun like ClickUp. But it catches up with its integration capabilities and extra gigabytes of free storage space, encouraging you to add whatever is lacking into your workspace. Want to incorporate Gantt charts and time checking? All of these options are available in the Atlassian Marketplace.

A recurring issue some users have with Jira is since it can house as many integrations as possible, your computer may run into some hardware issues. With that said, Jira can be viewed as a platform where colleagues can collaborate as quickly as possible, so long as you have enough time to explore the platform.

Jira’s Pros

  • A great set of tools packed with power, many of which are designed for teams working in IT or web development
  • A generally functional plan is available. There are also a number of premium plans.
  • Its list of over 1000 integrations with other platforms is one of Jira’s strengths. Notion vs ClickUp 2023

Cons of Jira

  • You may find it difficult to navigate Jira if you are not familiar with IT terminology.
  • It has been criticised for its slow interface, lack of intuitive functions and inability to manage important tasks.

ClickUp vs. Airtable

Airtable is well-known for its spreadsheet capabilities. But it also has many other features. Penned as a “real-time spreadsheet-database hybrid” that takes on a new spin on the usual project management software, it focuses on letting teams mix in all the workflow and data into one cohesive source of truth.

ClickUp may have good database management features, but Airtable excels across the board in this field. It’s best recognized for its generously customizable spreadsheet-adjacent table view. Though more appropriate for teams specializing in organizing important data, Airtable’s inclusive approach makes it a welcoming solution for any purpose.

Airtable is trusted by so many people because of its stability and ease-of-use. It can be difficult to use in certain cases, especially when using its data input functions.

Comparing the Features

Airtable allows you to craft an organized layout with the help of spreadsheets. They can be used in multiple ways and for multiple purposes thanks to the template library. But, as per its recent update, there are more ways of viewing tasks that you can explore beyond spreadsheets, thanks to the Interface Designer feature. You can now customize your views to look like ClickUp. Notion vs ClickUp 2023

Features aside, we have to appreciate how Airtable presents its free plan. It may be less robust in features, but it is surprisingly functional. You get to access some core features, but as for customization, there’s not much range of options to explore unless you sign up for any of its premium plans. These plans are a little more expensive than ClickUp’s so be aware.

Airtable’s Unique Aspects

Airtable excels in spreadsheets, out of all the project management tools on our list. It’s also one of the only platforms that cash in on their spreadsheet and table tools as their star asset.

For years before the advent of digital boards and other task views designed for today’s age, spreadsheet programs like Microsoft Excel were primarily used to import data and lay out the tasks for any project. Their formal and neatly stacked nature stemmed from the design has helped get teams to reach their goals.

But, as time passed, they slowly went out of style, considering the need for more flexibility and functionality. Airtable was designed to solve the shortcomings of spreadsheet platforms. Airtable’s unique capabilities make it more suitable for all types of teams, especially with cloud-based work and remote work. Notion vs ClickUp 2023

Airtable’s Pros

  • There are many amazing customization and spreadsheet-creating capabilities.
  • It is well-respected for its functional and stable user interface.
  • Its affinity for diversity makes it suitable for many different types of work purposes

Airtable’s Cons

  • Sometimes, data import and export can be difficult to manage, especially when data is transferred from MS Excel.
  • Although it may seem difficult to sign up for Airtable, once you get used to the overall functions of the platform, it will be worth it.

Bottom Line: Which Project Management Software Should I Choose? Notion vs ClickUp 2023

ClickUp is a great option if you want your team members to be able to do everything at once. Monday.com is an excellent alternative if your team doesn’t want to feel overwhelmed the first time. Technically, all platforms in our list are alternatives. However, Monday.com has more in-house capabilities, such as communication tools, collaboration tools, reporting and time-tracking.

Asana, Notion and Airtable offer the perfect combination of functionality and form. Between the three, you get to focus on the tasks at hand with as minimal features as possible, and you can maximize with integrations if you feel like it. The only difference lies in how they’re used: Notion focuses on note-taking and documents, Airtable on spreadsheets, and Asana on task handling with a little communication on the side.

Trello might be better suited for workflows that rely on visuals. However, you may need to integrate with other platforms in order to achieve other goals. After all, it shines best when it comes to Kanban board views. Jira Software is a great choice if you are looking for an advanced interface and agile features, and/or a computer-related skill such as IT, web development or any other computer-related skill.

Lastly, if you want to stuff the best features of all the other PMS into one place, there’s no other thing we could think of other than ClickUp. But, if you’re going for this route, you may need to consider its strengths and weaknesses, most of which we haven’t fully covered here. It’s worth mentioning that some of ClickUp’s tools may be better, while others may not – nevertheless, it offers a decent list of integrations, which you can use to your advantage if you need it most, as with any other existing project management software.

Have you found the perfect PMS to help your team achieve your dream goals? ClickUp is the right platform for you or something else? We wish you all the best, regardless of which platform you choose.

What is ClickUp? A Handy Overview Notion vs ClickUp 2023

Established in 2017 as one of the many up-and-coming tech startups at the time, the team behind ClickUp knew their aim: for the platform to be the ultimate go-to place for businesses and teams to work more productively. They realized that the current productivity system could be all over.

There are many project management tools available that can be difficult to track. For instance, Monday.com and Asana may be a better place to manage project-related tasks. Time tracking management? Go for Hubstaff or ActiveCollab. Want to create documents and presentations for the rest of your team to see and share? Microsoft Office and Google’s suites of tools might help.

Teams from all walks of the spectrum have to deal not only with project management. Communication is also important. While a few platforms include a chat function, many of them can be downloaded separately. You can think of Slack and MS Teams or even Discord.

Keep in mind that there are many productivity-based apps available for colleagues to use, creating an oversupply. For some, the increasing number of those may require more work to complete certain projects and achieve certain goals efficiently. ClickUp recognizes the need to create a platform that provides all workplace solutions from one location. ClickUp also believes that it will help improve productivity by 20%.

ClickUp was founded over a decade ago. It has since grown to include more than 200,000 small and medium-sized businesses and companies. One of the eye-catching reasons why these teams rely on the platform is its cost-cutting list of features, helping them save up extra time – and money – in the process. ClickUp offers many useful tools, such as real-time collaborations with team members, shared task setting, productivity reporting, templates and other customization options. This is in addition to the usual tools like task management, communication and time tracking.

Another thing that makes ClickUp a solid pick for workplace activities is the flexible price range, including its free forever plan, which is among complete free packages as far as productivity platforms are concerned. ClickUp makes sure that every member of the team can access all of its most important features, unlike other apps which hide their best features behind paywalls. This makes it highly ideal for short-on-budget teams who work remotely. Notion vs ClickUp 2023

ClickUp: Who are the ideal teams?

ClickUp is a great tool for small and large teams. But, its overall nature has made it an especially ideal choice for

  • ClickUp can be used by remote or home-based teams. This is great news for companies that have many different teams.
  • Human resources departments – ClickUp is equipped with excellent management, reporting, and storage tools, including a performance tracker, which any company’s HR department must have.
  • ClickUp provides seamless collaboration and communication features such as chat and comment sharing for design and advertising teams.
  • ClickUp is a great tool for marketing and finance-focused companies. ClickUp’s reporting and tracking features are great for teams that specialize in marketing or finance.
  • Teams who work in healthcare – Healthcare companies, no matter if they work remotely or not, must abide by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). ClickUp, thankfully, offers this compliance; however, it’s only limited to the enterprise plan.

What’s Good and What’s Not with ClickUp

From simple and convenient offerings to jam-packed pricing plans, it’s no wonder why ClickUp has become one of the top choices for the best productivity software on the internet, and a fan favorite, too! This statement might seem too good to be true. Keep reading to see if ClickUp can still stand on its own.

The Pros

  • ClickUp is one of a few platforms that offers a fully functional free plan. This includes vital workflow features that are not available through the paywall.
  • The system comes with many elite customization options that are suited to different industries. This includes customizing dashboards according to personal preference and the “Custom Fields” tool.
  • ClickUp provides a wide range of tools for work management that can be used to improve communication and engagement in the workplace. It can range from excellent real-time reporting features to smooth collaboration options.
  • Its tools are easy to use, simple and convenient. This reduces the stress of trying to manage multiple productivity apps at once.
  • ClickUp’s plans don’t have the same limitations as other platforms. If you want to integrate with third-party apps or services or accommodate more team members, ClickUp has you covered.
  • ClickUp offers desktop access as well as a mobile app for iOS and Android that allows inter-team collaborations to take place while on the move.

The Cons

  • ClickUp is full of easy-to use features but it can be difficult for new colleagues to learn how to use them.
  • ClickUp is not the best in UI design. Some parts of ClickUp’s font and text sizes might be difficult to read for some users. Color layouts can also be a concern.
  • ClickUp has many productivity features. However, it does not have the ability to provide post-project feedback. Some of its integrated tools are also not as intuitive as the platform’s counterparts. Notion vs ClickUp 2023

Breaking Down ClickUp’s Pricing Plans

ClickUp offers four pricing plans to its users, with a sub-plan and upgrade tier for each. Each of these plans is suited for a diverse range of teams varied by size, manpower, and availability of resources. Let’s now take a closer look at ClickUp’s plans.

Free Forever

ClickUp’s Free Forever Plan is one of the most outstanding features on the platform. Even though it’s an entry-level plan, you have unlimited access to tasks and can add unlimited team members to your workspace. You’ll also explore ClickUp’s jam-packed core features, such as real-time chat, whiteboards, time-tracking, and native video recording.

Although the offerings seem appealing, there are limitations. For example, the monthly allowance of 100 automations and 100MB storage. Nonetheless, the Free Forever plan is a solid pick for solopreneurs, project management newbies, and small-scale teams needing more budget.

Unlimited Plan

You like the free tier, but you don’t want to follow the rules that could impede your workflow. You may be glad that ClickUp’s Unlimited Plan offers plenty of welcoming upgrades and extra features at affordable rates. At the same time, other productivity platforms have plans similar to this but at higher price ranges. Notion vs ClickUp 2023

For $5 per user per year (if you pay annually), you get all the core features of the Free Forever plan plus unlimited storage and app integrations. Unlimited dashboard creations are also possible. Advanced reporting tools and Goals & Portfolio are also available for a low price. Ideal for small-sized teams with an expanded client base and increasing resources, upgrading this plan from Free Forever requires a little money, making it valuable.

Business Plan

ClickUp’s Business Plan is for teams that have grown beyond their small spaces and are prepared to tackle new challenges. ClickUp’s Business Plan includes a host of features to meet the increasing demands of effective workplace resources. For instance, it has extra security features for teammates, such as two-factor authentication and single sign-on integrations with Google on top of the features from the two previous tiers combined.

Additionally, the Business Plan has seen worthy upgrades for some of ClickUp’s core features, including advanced dashboard customizations, next-level automation, and upgraded public sharing. The Goal Folders feature allows you to compile and organize your project goals into separate folders, making it easy for safekeeping. The Business plan costs as low as $12 per user per month (if paid yearly).

Business Plus Upgrade

Want to explore more with the Business Plan? The Business Plus upgrade is priced at $19 per member per year (annually), and unlocks all the features of the tier to maximize productivity within your team. You will also get additional automations allowances.

You’ll also explore ClickUp’s efficient KPI tracking tools, team-sharing features, and custom role creation. As a bonus, you’re given priority support, so whenever you have inquiries and requests, ClickUp’s customer helpline will step in as quickly as possible.

Enterprise Plan

The Enterprise Plan is ClickUp’s most complete tier yet, packed with additional enterprise-grade features apart from all the combined tools covered by all the previous plans. Marketed towards very large-scale teams and established businesses and corporations, it has no fixed plan – this means you will need to link up with ClickUp’s sales department first to forge a deal on how much you may need to pay.

The Enterprise tier includes advanced solutions such as white labeling, unlimited custom roles, advanced permissions, customized contract agreements complete with legal support, and HIPAA compliance for healthcare teams. You can also use multiple apps to sign on, including Google. There are also custom onboarding training available for new colleagues and a dedicated success manager who will ensure a positive and productive workplace. Notion vs ClickUp 2023

ClickUp’s Features: A Closer Look

Before we can explore the rest of ClickUp, let’s first examine its hierarchical structure. A typical productivity system is composed of two things: a company or its projects. ClickUp takes it up a notch with a few structural adjustments, resulting in the creation of its distinct hierarchy of, in this order, Teams, Workspaces, Spaces (Projects), Folders, Lists, and Tasks.

Teams, in ClickUp terms, refer to the company or organization that handles all the tasks and assigns them to the employees or teammates. Teams are usually created by companies from different fields. However, there are rare instances when large groups manage multiple teams simultaneously. From the Teams come the Workspaces, referred to as departments within the company.

After the Workspaces come next, a varying number of Spaces or work projects are assigned by the departments within the Team. Each Space branches to the Folders, which in turn branch to the Lists. These Spaces are essentially subprojects of the larger plan. The much-anticipated Tasks from the Lists section are finally here, each one assigned to a different member of the team.

Let’s now get to the point.

Multitask Toolbar

Once you step into the ClickUp user interface, you may notice the multitask toolbar, which appears if you click on one or multiple tasks on the list. It has the same old functions that you could expect from, say, a taskbar from any e-mail platform like Yahoo Mail or Gmail, such as the ability to select and mark as read, delete, etc. Needless to say, it makes for a great feature for solo power users and managers who often handle a hefty load of tasks.

ClickUp’s multitask bar allows you to do many things with your tasks, just like any other e-mail service. You can, for instance, change the status if they’re complete or not, modify the due dates, set assignees among your current teammates, and even convert some of them into sub-tasks to make the full goal less complicated.

A Simplified Approach to Managing and Viewing Tasks

On nearly most productivity apps, you would be expected to bear the weight of manually writing in your tasks and inputting them into your team calendar and goals everywhere you go. ClickUp has made this process much easier. Instead of spending nearly an hour writing down your tasks and inputting them into your team calendar and goals, you can simply type the task you are interested in and wait for ClickUp to incorporate the data into your workspace.

ClickUp offers many options for how you see your tasks laid out. It currently houses over 15 powerful views, from the calendar and boards to the more advanced views like the Gantt chart, mind map, map view, and workload. That way, you’ll get a complete scope of how the rest of your team is doing, plus the assurance that your goals may be reached efficiently.

Customization Range

ClickUp is a great tool for task management. The useful drag-and drop feature makes organizing tasks a breeze. You can drag and drop tasks to move the deadline to a later date or period.

However, customization goes beyond the simple drag-and-drop and multitask toolbar tools with ClickUp. Its ClickApps section, on the one hand, helps give the Workspace experience more life by supplying you with time-saving tools such as automations, dependencies, sprints, and more, all of which you can incorporate into your team’s space. On the other, you can have the option to create pre-made templates for your checklists, documents, folders, and the like that you may put into good use in the future, and, for a powered-up work environment, you can also integrate with over 1,000 apps and services – all made possible through Zapier. Collaboration and communication tools

Communication is key to a successful work project, and ClickUp provides you and your team with in-house features that deliver the aspect right on the spot. Its e-mail service and chat feature allow you to interact with your fellow teammates without having to leave elsewhere, as you can do several things, such as catch up on your tasks and ask for special requests whenever necessary. These features are great, but they should not be relied upon. There are issues with the interface, and it is better to have backup comms in case of an emergency.

That aside, apart from the integrated communications tools, ClickUp’s also packed with smooth collaboration features up its sleeves. Like Google’s work suite, you can see whatever your teammates are working on in real-time from the Whiteboard to the Documents. Do you have any feedback? You can review your files and your team’s tasks, make suggestions, and even share them to others.

Documents

Having an outlet where you can lay out the ideas and goals of your project is an excellent idea until you realize you would have to access it on separate applications. ClickUp solves this by incorporating its version of Documents into the platform, enabling you and your team to hash out your plans together in one place without going elsewhere.

More than creating and editing your files with a handful of fonts, sizes, and photos, ClickUp Docs lets you link them with your Workspace tasks seamlessly through the use of widgets. Why update your workflow in separate tabs when you can do it within the editor? Not only does this feature save you time but also your effort – this is especially important if you have a lot of tasks in mind and don’t like to clutter up your productive routine.

Once your documents are complete, you can share them with your team members or publically using an automatically generated copy/paste link. ClickUp Docs also offers other useful features such as Focus Mode, which allows you to focus on the part you are working on without distractions and allowing you to look at page details including word count, approximate reading time, and estimated reading time.

Real-time Reporting and Goal Tracking

It is crucial to track the progress of projects and determine if any steps have been taken to achieve their goals. ClickUp’s customizable dashboard allows you to view all types of project indicators from one place. From the current status of project goals and sprints to a real-time graph indicating how many tasks have been completed within the team, rest assured that you have the right tools to determine if any of your projects are geared towards success or otherwise.

ClickUp’s reporting section makes it easy to report on how your workspace is doing. Aside from easily digestible visual graphs, the platform houses automatic reporting tools such as the Pulse section, where you get to view how many of your teammates are online at a specific time, Time Estimates, Team Points, and reports on how many tasks a teammate was able to complete in the day, month, or year.

Time Management

Remote work is becoming more popular. This has led to a growing demand for time management apps that help team members track how much time they work each day, week, and month, even though they may be in different places. While there have been dedicated platforms for that, time management features are already part of ClickUp’s loaded package of offerings. Its time tracking and reporting functions are just like the rest of ClickUp’s tools.

The global timer allows teammates to enter their work hours, link their task and take notes. It doesn’t matter what device you use – ClickUp’s Chrome extension is free and you can record your time on your computer, your mobile phone or your laptop. ClickUp allows you to set the timer to start when you are done with your tasks. Or you can manually enter how many hours you will work each day. The core tools for general time tracking management such as time billing, editing and timesheets will be covered. Have you used a separate time-tracking app before, and do you want to transfer data from there to ClickUp? Simply sync information between the two platforms. Notion vs ClickUp 2023

The ClickUp Support System Bonus

Need assistance? ClickUp has almost everything you need to assist you! Apart from being packed with many handy work management tools, ClickUp equally shines in providing its users with excellent customer support and learning resources.

On the one hand, its 24/7 customer service section can be accessed at any time regardless if you’re signed to a paid or free plan. What’s nice about it is that you get plenty of support teams to choose from. The Sales section, for example, is the best place to go if you have questions about the Enterprise plan. A dedicated team can help you set up your Workspace.

ClickUp allows you to explore a wide range of learning content that will help you use the platform. This includes the Demo package’s on-demand video tutorials and the Help Center’s rich documentation. ClickUp University offers courses and webinars that can help you and your team improve your work skills. Notion vs ClickUp 2023

ClickUp: What customers have to say about it

ClickUp’s extensive list of project management tools gives it an edge over other products, though some users may find the sheer number overwhelming. But, for what it’s worth, it has amassed a considerable following among the general public.

Most team leaders who have used ClickUp for work have been generally positive about their experiences navigating through it so far. They have lauded the platform for its limitless customization possibilities and how time-saving most of its interface and features are. They also appreciate how functional the free entry-level plan can be compared to other productivity programs and how worthwhile it is to upgrade to higher tiers, especially considering the price.

ClickUp has many features. It’s no surprise that learning can be difficult, especially for people not familiar with remote project management. With that in mind, they may need to allow themselves more time to get used to its inner workings, which the service thankfully catches up with a vast range of learning and onboarding material. In addition, ClickUp, like the rest, is not fully immune to criticism in terms of having a sometimes buggy web and mobile app interface, but other than that, most users do not see any concerning issues with it as a whole. Alternatives to ClickUp

ClickUp has made its mark as one of the best productivity software out there, and its level of recognition today has now equaled the following alternative work platforms below. Each one has its own unique features and competitive aspects, but some aren’t as good as ClickUp.

  • Monday.com – It’s obvious Monday.com is a close competitor to ClickUp. Monday.com offers many of the same features as ClickUp, including customization options, workflow capabilities, integrations and the ability to provide learning and onboarding resources to its teammates. While it lacks in its free plan and wide range of tools, it sure does make up for its ease of set-up and use.
  • Smartsheet – Smartsheet provides teams with the same quality project management tools that ClickUp offers, including a reliable mobile app and multiple task-viewing options. They also have the ability to share tasks with colleagues in real-time. Smartsheet excels when it comes creating spreadsheet-adjacent projects plans. This makes it an excellent choice for detail-oriented groups that have to deal with large amounts of data, as well as freelancers and small-scale groups.
  • Teamwork – While ClickUp and the rest are collectively best for team projects, Teamwork has a slew of tools geared toward client- and service-based interactions. Apart from the usual features you may expect from any PM software, and some great solutions can be used individually. Though it may not have everything ClickUp has, Teamwork does offer a full suite of dedicated products for seamless productivity. Notion vs ClickUp 2023
  • Asana – Some PM platforms like ClickUp may have too many features. Others may need to be simpler. They might be considered useless. Asana perfectly strikes the balance of power and simplicity, making it a strong option for teams of various sizes. Asana is a great tool for beginners, offering a comprehensive mix of tools, from task management to communication. However, some aspects require access beyond the paywall, like full-range customization.

ClickUp: The Final Verdict

As we reach the end of our ClickUp review, let’s go full circle to the beginning and answer these questions: 1) How accurate is its claim to increase productivity rates? How does it handle workflow?

Firstly, from how it executes its premise by being a one-stop platform for all project management needs, there’s no doubt that ClickUp has the potential to improve workflow among teammates, even while remote. However, having too many tools can lead to information overload. Second, depending on how you see it, the software does its best to tackle multiple tasks, even though a few of its aspects require improvement.

ClickUp is ClickUp worth the effort based on what we have learned so far. Although the final decision is up to you, we believe it’s worth a try in this instance. ClickUp may be a good choice for you if you are a small team looking to move to remote work.
