Introductory Public Relations Program

Media List

Create media list of 30-40 publications including local business journals, daily and weekly newspapers and trade publications in the client’s industry and target markets.

Spreadsheet will include editorial contact, phone, email, address, circulation, etc.

Press Releases

Draft and pitch press releases to editors and reporters at appropriate publications determined by research on media list above.

Bylined Articles

Draft and/or edit bylined articles on the client’s area of expertise. Word length should be about 1,000 to 2,000 words, written in a vendor-neutral style.

Company Press Kit

Create press kit for distribution to interested corporations and other prospects. Kit will include:

  1. Fact sheet -- one-page summation of client services;
  2. Company backgrounder -- five-page in-depth description of company history, staff, industry and clients;
  3. Press releases -- see description above;
  4. Reprints -- publicity achieved, on glossy paper with banner masthead and date; and
  5. Other items based on discussions with clients.

Kit should be presented in pre-printed company folder.

Other publicity

Other forms of publicity to be pursued include:

  1. Tri-fold brochure
  2. Quarterly newsletter
  3. Trade show and conference research
  4. Website organization
  5. Interactive public relations (see interactive department and program)

Please be aware the tasks above represent a tentative framework. Public relations is more of an art than a science and involves varied opportunities unique to each company. A PR program commonly develops through continuing collaboration.
