About

Cut-It-Out

Founded in 2003, Cut-It-Out Communications is a full-service public relations agency based in Hartsdale, New York.

The organization focuses on the incorporation of online activities into traditional PR programs.

These activities include drafting e-newsletters, the set-up and maintenance of internal blogs on client web sites and the creation of inbound links to maximize a web site's search engine ranking.

With many years of experience in public relations and related fields, the President, Willy Gissen, trained with a former SVP of the top New York City public relations firm, Hill & Knowlton; is certified in advanced search engine marketing; and served on the communications and operations staffs of Congressional and gubernatorial campaigns.

Mr. Gissen holds a degree in Government from Harvard College.

Flash Foresight

Daniel Burrus's exciting new book, Flash Foresight, subtitled, "Seven Radical Principles That Will Transform Your Business," describes how to achieve "a sudden burst of insight about the future," by using analytical triggers in your thought process.

A futurist and technological expert, Burrus peppers the book with case studies ranging from Starbucks to Amazon.com. Particularly interesting was his distillation of technological advancement into eight components: dematerialization, virtualization, mobility, product intelligence, networking, interactivity, globalization and convergence.

Online Literacy

The online world is constantly changing, and top business executives must keep up to survive. Developing online literacy requires familiarity with fundamental processes and programs through hands-on interaction on a regular basis.

In my opinion, online literacy should include, 1) the ability to create a web page with Adobe's Dreamweaver, and an elementary knowledge of html, 2) an awareness of the role of inbound links in Google's ranking algorithm, and how to create them, and 3) a familiarity with Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter with its auxiliary programs.

PR Corner:
Motivating Your Clients

Simply put, motivation facilitates business success. This powerful force can be nurtured through some simple, though often counterintuitive, techniques based on sharing your knowledge with others, even at the cost of "giving away" your organizational secrets.

Public relations professionals often adopt business procedures they would never follow in their personal lives, to their own detriment and those around them. Yet motivating your clients can be easily achieved and can create a synergy affecting your own agency as well.
