Grantwriting

Grantwriting Introductory Program

Model proposal

Cut-It-Out Communications will create and/or edit a model grant proposal for the client. We will use the standard format as follows: cover letter (1 page), executive summary (1 page), statement of need (2 pages), project description (3 pages), budget (1 page), organizational information (1 page), conclusion (2 paragraphs) and appendix (attachments such as 501(c)(3) letter, board of directors list, last audited financial statement, etc.) The client will supply rough drafts and/or background and other materials as needed.

Foundation research

We will research and suggest grantmakers to support the client’s project.

The initial research, from the Foundation Center database, considered the authoritative source on grantmakers, will be conducted by searching for appropriate keywords related to the client or the program to receive funding.

Depending on the results, we will provide a file with raw data on about 50-to-100 suitable foundations. Each record will contain multiple fields including foundation web site, contact information, type of grantmaker, background, purpose and activities, program areas, geographic focus, types of support, limitations, application information, board meeting dates, deadlines and financial information (including amount of grants).

Then, we will winnow down the list to approximately twenty foundations most likely to fund your project. The selection will be based on a thorough reading of the raw data file and consideration of topics such as geographical limitations, pre-selected applicants, grantmaking focus and amount of awards as well as discussions with program officials at the foundations.

Foundation applications

Using information from the completed model grant proposal, and other information supplied by the client, we will complete applications to the top foundations. The list will be prioritized according to grantmaker deadlines and any other considerations deemed important. Conference calls and/or meetings will be arranged with project coordinators as requested by the foundation.
