Case Studies
Purchase Environmental Protective Agency case study
Whom should you call to preserve a historical treasure?
The Manhattanville campus, once the Ophir Farm Estate, is steeped
in history. Our college wanted to celebrate and preserve its treasures
so they wouldn’t be lost forever. After researching, exploring
and savoring fascinating primary sources for two years, we needed
a professional editor to help create a succinct and informative
booklet.
After much searching, I stumbled upon a Westchester PR firm, now
known as Cut-It-Out Communications, in a list published in the Westchester
County Business Journal. After visiting its website and meeting
the owner, Willy Gissen, I realized he would devote the extreme
care and detail needed for this project that was so dear to my heart.
Even so, the final result took my breath away. The booklet was a
work of art, and we were so pleased, we mailed it to every household
in Purchase at considerable expense.
Today, this booklet and its self-guided tour allow people to walk
the campus and learn about our landmarks, buildings and landscaping.
It is also used in college courses to educate and inform our students,
and to keep history alive. That’s a noteworthy achievement
since so many other historical sites have been lost to neglect and
development.
